I Need More Of This In My Life
I am somewhat of a perfectionist. I know this, and I’m trying to change it, little by little. When doing drawing and design exercises, I make every effort to let myself make mistakes and run with them. No erasing, no touch-ups, no nothing. While attending VFS, one of my instructors, Myron Campbell (aka notsosimpleton) always pushed students to allow ourselves to make mistakes, to let go of the mental barriers that keep us from experimenting with different styles and tell us that something has to look a certain way. I’m still working on it, but this is a lesson I keep in mind everyday.
Here are some jaw-dropping illustrations with a backstory that really inspires me. Busymockingbird, a talented visual artist, has created something truly spectacular with the help of her 4 year old daughter.
