Here’s a little something I did for some friends that play in a band called Motherhood (Fredericton, NB). They didn’t ask me to do this – I was just working from home one day listening to their music when this image popped into my head. It’s a different direction and take on the name than (I believe) they had ever intended.
The image shows a grown-up, faceless version of Little Red Riding Hood, breastfeeding a newborn baby in an isolated forest setting. I found this image to be a tad unsettling, as if danger were somewhere close by and just out of sight, lending itself well to the sometimes harsh and foreboding qualities of Motherhood’s music.
This illustration was first drawn with pencil on paper, then scanned and vectorized in Illustrator CS6. Photoshop was used to add texture, and a just-barely-visible birch forest in the background.
